Change the status of a work item with your keyboard

You can move a work item through the workflow (also known as transitioning a work item) by changing its status in the command palette. For example, you could change the status from To do to In progress.

To change an work item’s status with the command palette:

1. Make sure you’re viewing a work item either in the side bar or in full screen.

2. Open the command palette.

   1. If you’re a Mac user, press command + K to open the command palette.

   2. If you’re a windows user, press Ctrl + K to open the command palette.

3. Search for the command Change status.

4. Select the desired status.

   1. If there are any transition requirements for the status you select, the transition work item window will open so you can complete the action.
