Hi, is there any ongoing work to add Xcode support to Firebase Studio?
Currently, no - that is not something we are actively looking into. Are you building a native iOS app? Or are you working on a Flutter or React Native app?
Actually, I develop cross-platform apps using React Native and Flutter. Firebase Studio has an Android emulator, but it would be great if it also had an iOS emulator and allowed us to build for iOS directly from Firebase Studio.
That would require macOS machines which I don’t think even Cloud Workspaces even has on GCP
can we really do it without mac , since everybody dont have access to mac book
Will flutter be able to build ios , macos , linux and windows apps directly within firebase studio , How soon can we expect this feature
Apple would most likely sue them if they tried to do that.
We are exploring various ways of doing this, but this is technically quite complicated. We don’t have a good solution yet that works seamlessly inside Firebase Studio itself.
What you could do is explore your own cloud-based solutions specifically for building iOS/macOS binaries where you can upload the source files from your Firebase Studio project to another 3rd party solution.
Probably , but cant we use MacOS as underlying OS of firebase studio workspaces as all are cloud based workspaces and VMs. @kirupa What do you think ? Can we get this soon ?
as far as I know running macOS on non Apple hardware is a violation of their TOS. maybe they wont do anything to end users but not sure about enterpise users
There are paths we can explore here, but we don’t have much to announce yet. There are 3rd party solutions from Macstadium to Codemagic to Appetize that you can explore using, but I don’t know how easily you all can integrate that with Firebase Studio.
