1 Óptica Optics Es la ciencia que estudia las leyes y
propiedades de la luz, su refracción y
absorción y los medios del ojo en esa
relación. También puede señalarse
como la práctica profesional que
consiste en preparar recetas para
lentes oftálmicos, dispensar anteojos,
hacer y colocar lentes de contacto.
Science that studies the laws and
properties of light , its refraction and
absorption, and the media of the eye in
that relationship. It can also be noted
as the professional practice of
preparing ophthalmic lens
prescriptions, dispensing eyeglasses,
making and fitting contact lenses.
2 Fibras Ópticas Fiber Optics Es un medio físico de transmisión
de información, usual en redes de
datos y telecomunicaciones, que
consiste en un filamento delgado de
vidrio o de plástico, a través del cual
viajan pulsos de luz láser o led, en la
cual se contienen los datos a
transmitir.
Physical means
of information transmission , usual in
data and telecommunications
networks, which consists of a thin glass
or plastic filament , through which
pulses of laser or LED light travel , in
which the data to be transmitted.
3 Prismas Prisms Son sistemas ópticos afocales que
dispersan y desvían la luz. En óptica
oftálmica se utili- zan por su efecto de
desviación de la luz en distintas
formas, dependiendo de las
características del usuario y la
magnitud de la corrección necesaria
Are afocal optical systems that scatter
and deflect light. In ophthalmic optics,
they are used for their light deflection
effect in different ways, depending on
the characteristics of the user and the
magnitude of the correction required.
4 Monturas Mount Es la parte móvil de la gafa en la que
se unen las varillas con el frente. En la
mayoría de los casos está compuesta
por una bisagra con tornillos, aunque
las innovaciones técnicas permiten que
muchas monturas no lleven ni bisagra
ni tornillos.
It is the mobile part of the glasses in
which the rods join the front. In most
cases it is composed of a hinge with
screws, although technical innovations
mean that many mounts do not have a
hinge or screws.
5 Cajas de reloj Watch boxes También llamado protector o soporte.
Consta de la carrura, también llamada
canto, que es la parte media de la caja
donde se aloja la máquina del reloj

6 Mecanismos Mechanisms Conjunto de piezas o elementos que

7 Muelles Springs Pieza elástica dispuesta en espiral,
generalmente de metal, que se usa en
ciertos mecanismos por la fuerza que
desarrolla al recobrar su posición

deformada (estirada, comprimida,
doblada, etc.).

generally made of metal, which is used

8 Metronomos Metronomes Máquina, a manera de reloj, paramedir
el tiempo e indicar el compás de

Movido por autopropulsión.

10 Avancarga Muzzleloader Un arma de avancarga es un arma de
fuego que se carga por la boca del
cañón (el extremo abierto al final del
cañón). Las armas de avancarga usan
un polvo especial para disparar y
requieren un manejo especial.
A muzzleloader is a firearm that is
loaded through the muzzle (the open
end at the end of the
barrel). Muzzleloaders use a special
powder to fire and require special
handling.
