¿QUE ES?
Es el preparado o producto farmacéutico
elaborado o supervisado por un Químico
Farmacéutico para atender una
prescripción médica veterinaria, de un
paciente individual, que requiere de
algún tipo de intervención técnica de
variada complejidad. La preparación
magistral debe ser de dispensación

PRESCRIPCIÓN O FÓRMULA
MÉDICA VETERINARIA:
Orden escrita emitida por un médico veterinario o
médico veterinario zootecnista para que uno o
varios medicamentos especificados en ella, sea (n)
dispensado (s) a determinado paciente. La
prescripción de las preparaciones magistrales
fiscalizadas, de control oficial o clasificadas como
monopolio del estado, se deberá realizar en el
recetario oficial.

medicamento ante la falta de
medicamentos industriales en algunas
circunstancias y situaciones clínicas, por
otro lado permite mejorar el proceso de
uso del medicamento adaptándolo a las
características del paciente, y facilitando la
adherencia al tratamiento.

Los casos en los que se prescriben estás
fórmulas Suelen ser debido a que no existe
un medicamento comercializado idóneo
para el paciente o porque los que hay le
presentan efectos intolerantes en el
paciente tratado.
Las fórmulas magistrales para mascotas
también son muy habituales, llegando a cubrir
las necesidades más concretas que los
medicamentos de la industria no consiguen
abarcar, ajustando la dosis a cada animal en
función de su edad, peso y estado.

Etiquetado de las fórmulas magistrales.
Las fórmulas magistrales deben ir acompañadas de una etiqueta en la que ha deberán constar los siguientes
datos:
1. Indicación de la oficina de farmacia y el nombre del veterinario que prescribe la receta.
2. El número con el cual figura en el libro de registro de la oficina de farmacia.
3. La mención “fórmula magistral de uso veterinario.”
4. La fecha de elaboración.
5. La identificación de los animales o explotación de destino.
6. La composición cualitativa y cuantitativa en principios activos por dosis o según la forma de administración,
por a un determinado volumen o peso, utilizando, cuando exista, la denominación comuna internacional
recomendada por la Organización Mundial de la Salud y, sino hay, la denominación comuna usual.
7. El número de referencia por identificación en la producción (número del lote de fabricación).
8. El tiempo de espera, aunque sea nulo, por los medicamentos veterinarios que se tengan que administrar a
los animales de producción de alimentos con destino al consumo humano

9. La fecha de caducidad con lenguaje comprensible.
10. Las precauciones particulares de conservación, si son necesarias, con el símbolo
correspondiente si se requiere el concurso del frío.
11. Las precauciones especiales que deban tomarse al eliminar los medicamentos sin utilizar y
los productos de desecho cuando proceda.
