Hi All I am posting on behalf of my end-user, who has managed to damage part of the sticker while scratching it off, leaving him unable to activate his Windows Server 2022 STD installation (i have blacked out part of the SN above for privacy reasons) Please advice on how to proceed to either retrieve the key itself, or to get a new key from MS After Sales Support. We are able to provide proof of purchase (invoice) and the picture above as well.GordonTeoMay 06, 2025Occasional Reader2Views0likes0CommentsReports on failed logins
Hello, In a Windows domain network, I want to know which user has made unsuccessful attempts to log into the system. I checked the Event Viewer of the server where Active Directory is installed. I checked the Event Viewer of the server where Active Directory is installed and filtered the logs based on Event ID 4625, but found nothing. I entered my password incorrectly several times for testing, but no log was recorded on the server. Why? Thank you.WindowsgeekMay 04, 2025Copper Contributor12Views0likes0CommentsLinux clients for RDP - Features and limitation
I am testing Remote Desktop Services in a lab environment based on Windows Server 2019 servers and Windows 10 clients. I try to understand what can I do from a Linux client, let's say an Ubuntu box. 1 - Can I access an RDP desktop? I say yes, using remmina; is there any better solution? 2 - Can I use an .rdp file to open a RemoteApp? Maybe via xfreerdp? 3 - Can I connect to a Virtual Desktop, either pooled or private? 4 - Can I install self signed certificates created by a RD or VH server? I am attempting to collect information from the web: is there any comprehensive document explaining features and limitations of a Linux client in a RDS implementation? Is Microsoft open to receiving the information regarding licensing violations related to Windows Server or SQL Server? I mean that some US registered business is using unlicensed software above for commercial purposes. Is there an official channel or process for reporting such violations?everlinioMay 01, 2025Copper Contributor20Views0likes0CommentsWhy can't the server generate a report about deleting folders and files?
Hello, I enabled Audit Policy through the following method: Open the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Navigate to Windows Settings -> Security Settings -> Advanced Audit Policy Configuration -> Object Access. Open the Audit File System policy and check "Success". Update Group Policy Settings: Run the command "gpupdate /force" in Command Prompt to apply the changes. Then I enabled Audit policy on a folder and created and deleted a folder, but when I check the Event Viewer, there is only an ID of 4663. What is the problem? Thank you.WindowsgeekApr 30, 2025Copper Contributor41Views0likes2CommentsFeedback on ansible hyperv collection

The repos is at gocallag/hyperv (github.com) and the collection can be obtained via ansible-galaxy collection install gocallag.hyperv You can find the collection over at Ansible Galaxy - gocallag.hyperv Probably still quite a few bugs in it, but happy for any feedback.geoffocallaghanApr 29, 2025Copper Contributor808Views0likes1CommentOne DC with two subnets - Best practices
Hi all Our company will expand with a second physical site, and therefore a separate LAN. We already have an Active Directory in place, running on a Windows Server 2022 machine, with DHCP and DNS services. So we will now have two separate local networks, connected with a site-to-site VPN on router/gateway level, and one AD controller. I was wondering if there is a guide/instructions for setting up such a scenario. Can one AD controller handle this setup? How can I properly set up the DHCP and DNS requests from two different LANs? Thanks for your helpChrisG04Apr 29, 2025Copper Contributor15Views0likes0Comments
