Intel's latest XeSS 2.1 SDK has brought XeSS 2 Frame-Generation & Low-Latency technology support to NVIDIA & AMD GPUs.

NVIDIA & AMD GPU Owners Can Now Take Advantage of XeSS 2 Frame-Generation & Low-Latency Technologies Thanks To XeSS 2.1 SDK

Inteh has just announced the release of its latest XeSS SDK 2.1.0, which adds support for XeSS Frame Generation with Xe Low Latency support for non-Intel GPUs. This means that users running an NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm GPU are now able to leverage XeSS 2's feature set, and aren't limited to their exclusive upscaling technologies.

Introducing XeSS Frame Generation with Xe Low Latency support for non-Intel GPUs:

  • Requires Shader Model 6.4 support
  • Standalone XeLL is not supported on non-Intel GPUs

XeSS Super Resolution Vulkan API Enhancements:

  • Improved error reporting
  • Improved Vulkan validation layer support
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements

The new features will be available across all GPUs that support Shader Model 6.4. It is stated that XeLL will not be available as a standalone feature but will be available when running XeSS 2 Frame-Gen. Other SDK improvements for the XeSS 2 Super Resolution include various Vulkan API enhancements, which are a nice addition.

Intel's XeSS 2 technology was announced last year alongside the Battlemage "Arc B-Series" family. This is Intel's first frame-generation technology, which utilizes AI-infused XMX engines. As per image quality and game performance comparisons, the technology matches FSR 4 and DLSS 4 in terms of upscaling quality, & frame-generation also works great. NVIDIA still holds the edge over AMD and Intel with its DLSS MFG mode, which can be scaled up to 4x modes.

As of May 2025, XeSS is supported in over 200 games, while XeSS 2 support has been added to over 20 games. The new SDK will make it easier for developers to add XeSS 2 support in more games, while simultaneously supporting a wider array of GPUs.
