Alibaba Cloud DNS:Manage domain names in batches

Last Updated:Dec 19, 2024

Overview

You can use the following features to manage domain names in batches:

  • Transfer Domain Name System (DNS) records to another account in batches.

  • Change a group for domain names in batches.

  • Remove domain names in batches.

1. Transfer DNS records to another account in batches (Transfer DNS records)

You can transfer the DNS records from one account to another account in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

Usage notes

  • You can transfer the DNS records only added for domain names that are bound to free instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution. For information about how to transfer the DNS records added for domain names that are bound to paid instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution, see Scenario 2: Domain names that are bound to paid instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution.

  • You cannot transfer the DNS records added for the domain names that are used as the suffixes of the canonical names (NAME) for Global Traffic Manager (GTM) instances. The CNAMEs of GTM instances must associate with public domain names within the same account. For more information, see the Custom Access Domain Name.

  • You can transfer the DNS records of domain names within the current account. You cannot transfer the DNS records added for domain names within other accounts or domain names that are registered with third-party domain name registrars.

  • After the DNS records of domain names are transferred to another Alibaba Cloud account in batches, the destination Alibaba Cloud account has the permissions to manage the DNS resolution of these domain names. The management permissions include the management permissions on the DNS records of these domain names but do not include the management permissions on the registration of these domain names.

  • The feature of transferring DNS records to another account in batches can only be used by Alibaba Cloud accounts, but cannot be used by RAM users.

  • You can transfer DNS records across Alibaba Cloud accounts that are both registered on the China site (aliyun.com) or on the international site (alibabacloud.com). You cannot transfer DNS records across Alibaba Cloud accounts that are registered on different sites.

  • If the domain names that you want to transfer are bound to paid instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution, these paid instances cannot be transferred along with the domain names to another account.

Warning

After DNS records are transferred to another account, you can use the original account to retrieve all the DNS records and the management permissions on these DNS records in the following two ways:

You can retrieve the DNS records added for domain names that are bound to paid instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution. This does not affect DNS resolution. You can use both the preceding ways if domain names are bound to free instances of Public Authoritative DNS Resolution.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

  2. On the Authoritative Domain Names tab of the Authoritative DNS Resolution page, click Batch Operations.

  3. On the Batch Operations page, click the Manage Domain Names tab, enter the domain names that you want to manage, and then click Transfer to Another Account.

  4. In the Verify Identity for Domain Name Transfer dialog box, specify the Verification Code and Destination Account parameters and click Submit.

  5. Click the Batch Operation Records tab and click Download Details Log in the Actions column to view the transfer result.

2. Remove domain names in batches

You can remove the domain names that are registered with third-party domain name registrars from the domain name list on the Domain Name Resolution page in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console in batches.

Usage notes

  • You cannot remove the domain names that are registered with Alibaba Cloud from the domain name list on the Domain Name Resolution page in the Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

  • After the domain names that are registered with third-party domain name registrars are removed from the domain name list, the DNS records of these domain names are automatically removed. If the domain names that you want to remove are bound to Public Authoritative DNS Resolution instances of an enterprise edition, the domain names are unbound from the Public Authoritative DNS Resolution instances and the features only supported by the enterprise edition are disabled for the domain names after they are removed.

  1. Log on to Alibaba Cloud DNS console.

  2. On the Authoritative Domain Names tab of the Authoritative DNS Resolution page, click Batch Operations.
