Fresh off his stunning World Championship win, Tadej Pogačar is ready to continue his dominance in the final races of the 2024 season.
UAE Team Emirates has given us a sneak peek of the fresh new fit the World Champion will be rocking for the next year. In a social media video released by the team, the Slovenian can be seen carrying a rack of rainbow cycling kits—manufactured by Italian apparel brand Pissei—and then opting for the black shorts option as he prepares to go on a training ride on his rainbow-edition Colnago V4RS road bike.
At last Sunday’s UCI Road World Championship, Pogačar left everyone in disbelief when he desperately attacked with 100 km left to race. But the 26-year-old managed to hold off the chase group, led home by Australian Ben O’Connor, who took silver, and Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel, who won the bronze medal.
Pogačar is set to return to racing this Saturday at the Giro dell’Emilia, which involves climbing the San Luca climb in Bologna a few times. In addition to the Tre Vallo Varesine mid-week race, the Italian Classic should help the World Champ prepare for the last monument of the 2024 season, Il Lombardia, on October 12—a race he has won three times in a row.
Tadej Pogačar won the Rainbow Jersey on the same year he’d won Strade Bianche, Volta a Catalunya, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the Giro d’Italia, and the Tour de France. He is also the most recent rider to complete the “Triple Crown,” following Belgian Eddy Merckx in 1974, Stephen Roche in 1987, and Annemiek van Vleuten in 2022.
