On April 10, 2010, Torres was arrested for the armed takeover robbery of a bank in Reading, Pennsylvania. At the time, Torres was employed as a police officer with the New York City Police Department.
Torres was sentenced to 131 months (just over eleven years) in Federal Prison and served his time at various correctional institutions in the Midwest.
