Materials
Pencil with Sharpener/ Mechanical Pencil with Leads /Lead Holder Pencil with Sharpener and Leads
HB Pencil with Sharpener (A.), Mechanical Pencil for thin outlines (B.), Lead Holder Pencil (C.), this is for thin and thick lines, and is the same as an ordinary pencil. The only difference is the ease when the lead becomes dull, as you just push the end button and sharpen the point; you can also use it with a longer lead (just push the end button many times).
There are various grades of pencil that you may consider for adding tones to your drawing: 4H, 2H, F, HB, 2B, and 6B, but if you’re short of supplies, you can use HB only. You will just apply pressure when you want a darker tone and light pressure for light tone.
Charcoal
A. Charcoal pencils- Come in different ranges from Hard, Medium, and Soft, and they are good for giving details in any charcoal work.
B. Vine Charcoal- They also come in different ranges and also sizes. You can apply it directly or shave it with your cutter and use the accumulated dust on your working paper.
C. Compress Charcoals- This is the same as other charcoal, but with different range and in shapes. They are available in bar or cylindrical shape, and they have a darker tone and can easily adhere to any drawing paper.
D. Powder Charcoal-They come in cans or plastic bottles, are very fine and useful for any charcoal work, especially for toning. They can also be used for transferring your drawing or outlines to working paper.
Fine Point Marker/Permanent Fine Point Pen
Use these to add dark details in your work, and also to fill some dark tight areas.
Soft and Abrasive Rubber Eraser/ Pencil Eraser/ Refillable Retractable Eraser/Kneaded Eraser/Electric Eraser
• Soft and Abrasive Rubber Eraser- Use this to erase minor mistakes and to lighten colors in painted areas, as well as large areas.
• Electric Eraser- This eraser is battery operated and comes with soft and abrasive eraser refills. This is a must have for airbrush users, as it can create various effects that an ordinary eraser can’t.
• Heavy Duty Abrasive Eraser- Use this to erase tough areas, but be very careful when you’re going to use this, as it can ruin your working paper or board.
• Kneaded Eraser- It’s like clay that is used to erase dark outlines and also to lighten some areas. It is especially used for highlights and other effects.
• Refillable Retractable Eraser- This is the same as a rubber
