Me And a Short Line

About this ebook
This book “Me And A Short Line” is a book of poems that were written in prison. It contains the thoughts of a man tormented by his failures in life, his loves, his family, and his successes. Long after a man regrets his crimes he realizes that you can’t take anything away from him that he can’t earn back except time. How much blood do we need from a man in prison before he pays for his crime? Only God can see how wrong we are. If every family in this United States knew a family member or friend that was in prison and could see how it affects everyone around them maybe changes could be made to help convicts in society. Slavery was abolished in 1864 and it took a hundred years to make it so will society wait that long to see how much a waste of a human being prisons make?

“Got a Call” Family got a call the other day The police had something to say Come and pick up his stuff The outside has had enough He’s goin away for a while Not leavin in style He’s goin in a barred van Going to see the man Going to pay for his crime Gonna cost him a lotta time This is me in a nutshell. In my teen years, I joined a street gang and became an enforcer for that gang in Tucson, Arizona. I became an addict at 17 although I wouldn’t admit it. I sold drugs and did home invasions as an enforcer to collect drug money payments, had a child with my childhood sweetheart; loved and lost her and my son because of my life style. Now after a plethora of crimes including a bank robbery here I sit as a guest of the State of Arizona penal system for 16 years. My life, of course, didn’t start here or end here and now you can be the judge if you have ever been where these poems might take you.
