Trip 101 - Greg Roberts
WARNING!
a brief word of serious caution
This book is written for people who:
have a real sense of adventure
have a high tolerance for deep psychological risk
possess a genuine thirst for knowledge
like who they are
have open minds
are both physically and mentally healthy
are confidently past the age of puberty
If this doesn’t describe you, then you might want to think twice about following any of the guidelines set out here, and most especially, you probably should not be consuming so-called heroic
doses of entheogenic sacrament. And that’s cool. Tripping is a personal choice.
Now, assuming the above mentioned points describe you fairly well (which ain’t really all that hard), read on.

Introduction
This book came to me over the course of several deep spiritual journeys. I first started writing it as a set of reminders for myself, so that I could carry trip ritual knowledge from one experience to the next without having to always start again at ground zero and go oh, yeah, of course! Why didn’t I remember that from last time! Its so obvious!
The fact is, for anyone who has chosen the path of knowledge, the material presented here is common sense. But, as Mark Twain so eloquently put it: Common sense, isn’t
... and nothing could be more true when applied to the entheogenic dreamworld journey. The thing is, ideas and habits that come naturally in the trip world, rapidly dissipate into the ether upon our return to the profane. Upon our return, we are so effectively swept into the everyday world of trivialities that we must fight for our lives simply to integrate a fraction of the dreamworld knowledge. And in the midst of this fight, the next time we trip, typically the last thing on our minds is: now, what was that essential secret I learned last time, which, by the way, has no apparent importance in the real world
whatsoever?
What this booklet attempts to do is to preserve and encapsulate that wisdom in a simple, accessible format. Read it. Send me your suggestions. And trip away.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a book about casual, recreational drug use. Indeed, you don’t really need a book for that. This is a book about serious exploration of the deepest corners of the psyche, and beyond. If you have historically been accustomed to so-called recreational doses
of psychedelic drugs in social situations, you may not understand where I’m coming from. I’m talking about taking 12 grams of dried psilocybin mushrooms alone in the deep desert canyons of Utah, and completely departing from physical reality for 6 hours. Not 1 gram at a college frat party for a good laugh. Thus my cautions about sharp objects, cars, and such. The places this book will take you, the last thing you want is to be tied down by worldly responsibilities and actions, much less potentially dangerous situations. Hopefully you get my point here. This book is for serious psychonauts who take heavy doses in order to explore realms entirely apart from the three dimensional world of 5 senses which we ordinarily inhabit. That understood, read on.
