Introduction
With the job market uncertainty as it is, there may be a compelling reason for you to work as a freelancer. This offers a two-way prong of opportunities based on your skills and knowledge.
For one, you can earn extra income with freelancing, utilising your existing skills and knowledge in your spare time. Secondly, the skills and experience you use during your freelancing period will also add to your skills portfolio, giving you more opportunities to carve out your desired niche of where you may wish to start your own business career in the future.
While this all sounds quite simple, there are potential hurdles you may face. While I am not able to tell you what these may be, since everyone’s approach to becoming a freelancer may be different, I can however tell you that whatever those hurdles may be, you will need to overcome them one way or another.
I myself started my career in the corporate world, before deciding to become a freelancer in the world of bespoke IT CRM systems training and personal development. The major hurdle I faced was the drop into the unknown. I was facing the situation of where I find paying clients for my services, or working potentially for people I have never met, and establishing myself as an expert in my field among others.
My perseverance though paid off and I landed my first big contract with an international corporation, which not only was very exciting to work for, but in addition paid very handsomely for the work I delivered.
