This book is dedicated to young adults who feel they are unworthy of achieving great things in life, who think they lack all it takes to achieve greatness.

I need you to know that you are more than able to become all that God has chosen you to become. Therefore, discover and harness your possibilities and passion by challenging yourself to be empowered for greatness. And then, reach out for your dreams to achieve great success in all you do.

INTRODUCTION

Everyone dreams of achieving great things in life. The more we do not do what is required of us by reaching out for greater opportunities, the more our fears will keep leading us to the wrong paths of pains and problems. In such paths, we are locked into more hopelessness and disappointments in life, thereby losing faith in our dreams. But we must know that our dreams are achievable by discovering all that life is trying to teach us.

Where you are right now holds the key to your next level. To harness the right opportunities for greatness, you must know who you are. Holding on to the wrong identity (as a result of wrong programming or wrong perspectives) will keep you going around in cycles. Living a successful life is possible and achievable, if you understand what success is. Success is attaining quantum leaps in your work by being effective at it. It is what you create with your possibilities. It is what you must desire before setting out on a mission.

The input and investments made into any venture guarantees its success. Therefore, success is not what you hope to achieve by mere desiring; it is taking the right actions through strategizing, structuring, and surveying the growth of your establishment till it becomes productive and profitable.

Success is facilitated by adequate planning, preparation, practice, and the positioning of your potentials, possibilities, and passion on the right platforms where your gifts are needed. The attainment of great results is not exclusive to wealthy people alone, but to everyone who has the grit, guts, grace, gifts, glamour, and a great mind to achieve. As success is not confined to a particular set of people, your skills, strength, services and significance will lead to magnificent results. Likewise, the consistency and commitment with which you execute will eventually lead to great success.

Identity is the greatest key that opens connections, opportunities and platforms that lead to greatness. EVOLVING INTO A SUCCESS

(A TALE OF A MAN WHO FOUND PURPOSE)

The difference between a fulfilled life and a failed life is fruitfulness. Yet, as much as I could teach others to become successful, the more I wallowed in poverty. I thought that as long as I impacted people positively with my gifts, I was successful. Yet, I couldn’t surmount the ‘brokeness’ I felt, because to me rising to aim for greatness wasn’t meant for someone like me, who lived in abject poverty.

The great men whom I looked up to had exceeded my level of performance, as they rose up in pursuit of their own paths to greatness, while I stared at my dreams. And the more I stared, the more I was convinced that I couldn’t achieve them, because who I envisioned myself becoming was beyond my comprehension. I settled for where I was—which was comfortable—instead of moving out of the false comfort. It was something about the fear of the unknown, of an unfamiliar territory, as starting all over again is more painful than having little that keeps one happy.

Vicious critics took turns with gnawing at my naivety, while presenting all they spewed as advice and the truth. Yet in them I saw rejection, judgement, and hatred. Howbeit, those were their opinions, sadly capable of paralyzing a man’s dream. While running away from such people, I ended up living as a prisoner who lost the power to decide what I really wanted for my life, as the choices I made were poised to confine me to my broken background. Those choices could make me a prisoner in life, void of confidence, completeness, and the competence required for accomplishing success. All these, while having to deal with ill treatments from a cruel world, called human perspectives.

Who was to blame for my bad circumstances in life? Was I to blame my parents for neglecting me and subjecting me to a life of poverty? Everyone told me I was and I am responsible for my outcome in life, even when all I was offered was a life of struggles from birth. And even though I wished I could change my circumstances, I lacked what it took to do so.

Unknown to me, the future I looked forward to was around the corner and within the twinkling of an eye—as I truly determined that enough is enough—and that I no longer wanted to live as a prisoner in this world, I discovered I could create a paradise with my purpose by using my potentials to birth possibilities. So, I signed up at an empowerment centre to develop my potentials and discovered I was great at training people, which was (in a way) all I had been doing all along in my teaching career. In addition to that came the possibility of becoming a licenced personal development trainer. I had dreamt of having my own training school where I could be my own boss and live the great life I had always visualized. This possibility and that of going back to school to obtain a master’s degree in leadership education via part-time studies, gave me hope that my dreams could come true.

In retrospect, I see that blaming others for my problems robbed me of discovering what truly works for me. And the more I became paranoid by believing people were responsible for my problems, the more I fell into depression, hating my life. But the moment I chose to solve my problems and focus more on my master’s degree programme, I found myself in a new environment that woke me up to the right perspectives about success. I realized I had been practising the wrong things all my life, thinking they constituted the right way to a successful life. Sadly, I was wrong and foolish to hold on to my old ways of thinking.

I realized that being raised with a poverty mindset was the greatest disaster that befell me, as my parents taught me to avoid rich men, saying because they exploit people by selling them a rich life they can’t afford, just to make money off of them. These rich people were said to be too proud to associate with ordinary people.

I decided to move out of my environment—which had contributed to my bad upbringing—and choosing to work with a friend whom I met at the university to help him manage his training institute, I started serving the same rich men my parents had warned me about. I got to support others in building their dreams, which expressly made a huge difference in my life. I learnt what it takes to extensively, effectively, and effortlessly run a training institute. I moved from being a pretender who assumes he knows it all in life (but still struggles to win) to becoming a partner who collaborates with other great men to achieve success.

Working with the right business partner who is purposeful and intentional about his life empowered me to live a great life, thereby making me purposeful with my life, as this new job aligned with my passion, possibilities, and purpose.

So, today, I work with these same so-called exploitive and proud rich men—and they have changed my perspectives about life, as they were the ones who taught me all I needed to know about success, thereby awakening me to imbibe the right success habits for a great life.

Money had always been a problem for me. I had always lived like a pauper, managing the little I earned as a teacher in my previous job, without knowing I could earn more by upgrading my skills to become a professional trainer and leader. It’s sad thinking of how I subjected myself to becoming a prisoner in life. Living as a pauper, I knew I couldn’t fund my dreams with the little money I had, so I decided to go for financial trainings, to be financially empowered. I also discovered that becoming a public speaker would make me richer by impacting more lives on a wider scale and on a bigger platform. I learnt to have multiple streams of income, to increase my finances by becoming a trainer, a speaker, a consultant and an author.

I became a philanthropist, having the financial capacity to assist low-income families to finance their children’s education. I loved to see kids being educated and empowered, knowing full well that education improves and impacts positively.
