How to Set Up Your Makeup Business Using Social Networks - Nadine Allen
INTRODUCTION
Is there such a thing as social media marketing for makeup artists? Most people assume that merely posting on social media can result in something magical happening and their company growing.
However, to outperform your rivals, growing your company on social media necessitates determination and dedication. It's a fiercely competitive market. The good news is that it is not prohibitively costly.
Not to mention that, in today's world, certain companies will be unable to function without it. It's the latest word-of-mouth phenomenon. So, when it comes to makeup artist marketing, social media is a must.
Why is it a great starting point for marketing your makeup business?
For the most part, social media is a vague concept that means various things depending on who you ask. But there is one thing that everyone agrees on: it is about visuals. It may not have started that way, but it has evolved into that over the last few years—a visual picture of how we'd like to live our lives.
A makeup artist sells the same items, but more tangibly. A more accurate representation of who we are or would like to be.
When you mix the two viewpoints, the main concept emerges immediately: social media marketing is a must for anybody who works in the fashion industry. Take the lead, makeup artists.
Chapter 1: SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE FREELANCE MAKEUP ARTIST
Social media is a rapidly evolving area of technology that has the potential to make or break your makeup brand. Starting on social media can be time-consuming, but you'll soon reap the rewards!
Your work as a freelance makeup artist will become a lot easier if you establish an online social media presence. Both old and new customers will find it easier to reach you, and you will be able to sell your expertise more quickly. There's a lot more that social media can do for your freelance makeup business—keep reading to learn how to make the most of it!
Mix it up
Which platforms you should be on are determined by the picture of your company. If you want to start a makeup company that caters to brides, go to the places where they congregate! Brides want the latest and most glamorous look for their wedding, and exhibiting your work in places where brides go increases your chances of attracting new clients significantly. Image-based sites (such as Instagram and Pinterest) are your best bet in this situation.
Alternatively, if you're trying to build a professional brand, you can develop a LinkedIn profile. You can only make one! LinkedIn is ideal for companies and professionals in the workforce. It makes it easy for people to look for resources and contact their favorite businesses. LinkedIn is a great place to start for both your credibility and communication.
However, you'll need to join Facebook and Twitter to get the most attention. Your work can be seen by hundreds, if not thousands, of people on these sites. A few shares or retweets from your followers will greatly extend your brand's scope and bring in a slew of new customers!
It's simple to start on new channels as your social media profile grows. You already have a following; all you have to do now is let them know where else they can find you!
Encourage reviews
Customer reviews are the holy grail of all companies. Google and Facebook have the most easily read ratings. A few five-star ratings on your company page will quickly boost your reputation! Clients should be encouraged to leave feedback on your Facebook profile. One of the most popular sites for potential buyers to try out a new company is Facebook. This means you'll want to make your profile as technical, credible, and in-demand as possible.
To do so, provide a link to your professional website as well as a list of your qualifications. Your professional title as a makeup artist tells clients that you are qualified and experienced after completing your online makeup course. Don't be afraid to brag about your education on social media—it will speak volumes about your dedication and ability level!
Keep in mind that not every review can extol your incredible makeup artistry abilities. If a customer is dissatisfied, aim to resolve the issue offline in a professional manner!
Engage your visitors
Do you want to increase your sales? Here's a quick tip: build interesting material! Nobody wants to be inundated with the same old status updates and photos. Your followers will have something to tell each time you create a new post if you do so often. To keep your followers on their toes, switch between pictures, text messages, videos, and more!
You'll be able to build new content every week if you can plan your social media updates. Are you a makeup artist who likes to #tbt? Do you want some #mondaymotivation in your life, or do you want to avoid it? Sticking to a schedule and using hashtags will give your followers something to look forward to from your brand.
Using the visitors' interaction as an opportunity to get feedback. Creating surveys or soliciting feedback from your customers will demonstrate how much you appreciate their input!
Hold your tongue
Let's return to the unfavorable analysis for a moment. They're difficult to deal with, but they will help you become a better makeup artist (and business owner!).
You know how to handle criticism as a professional. However, there is a distinction to be made between absorbing criticism and putting it to good use. Every compliment you get from a client can motivate you to improve your skills as a professional makeup artist. Consider any statement about your company as constructive criticism, even if it isn't stated that way.
You're more likely to remain business-oriented with your responses if you take a client's words and separate them from the client's emotions. Recognize the source of your client's dissatisfaction and provide a solution. This isn't to suggest that you avoid all emotion; rather, keep in mind that emotions will easily escalate.
