How to Develop Your Concentration, Learn Faster and Remember More - Lorins Sidney
Introduction
Memory is the mental ability or the ability to retain and revise facts, events, impressions, etc. Alternatively, it can be defined as the mental ability to remember or recognize past experiences. It is important in our daily lives. We could not function in the present without relying on our memory.
Human memory contains three components :
1. Encoding - Encoding is the first step in creating a new memory. A construct is created, which allows the brain to store the information. Perception through the senses begins the process. Creating memories begins with attention. A memorable event causes neurons in the brain to burn more often, intensifies the experience, and increases the probability that the event will be coded as a memory. Emotion tends to increase attention.
2. Store and retain information - Store and retain is the more or less passive process of storing information in the brain, whether it is sensory memory, short-term memory or more permanent long-term memory. The more often the information is repeated or used, the more likely it is to be kept in long-term memory.
3. Recalls - Memory recall refers to subsequent reconnection to previous events or information, previously coded and stored in the brain. In ordinary language, it is called remembering.
As we age, the memory becomes less malleable and less accurate. By learning about recollection you will be able to keep your mind sharp.
Learning and memory enable the human brain to change remarkably over time. Learning and improving memory is possible at any age, due to the brain's natural neuroplasticity.
Sharpening your memory can be accomplished in several different ways
Exercise your brain - Memory, like muscle power, requires you to 'use it or lose it. The more you train your brain, the better you can process and remember information. To strengthen the brain, one must continue to learn and develop new skills. The activity must be unknown and outside our comfort zone. The activity must be challenging. An activity that allows us to start at a simple level and work our way up as our skills improve, continues to expand our capabilities. But we must choose activities that, while challenging, are fun and satisfying.
Exercise regularly -
