Superior Intellect! A Comprehensive Manual On How To Train Your Brain At Home! - James S. Walters
Chapter 1: All of This Begins in Your Head
When you have an internal locus of control,
you accept full responsibility for your life and its outcomes. When things don't go as planned, many individuals are quick to point fingers at others or the universe at large. Just tell me why you're not pleased. It's because you had such a rough upbringing! When did you become so poor? It's because you didn't come from a wealthy family or because you were laid off from your work.
Offering up justifications may seem good at the moment, but they ultimately go nowhere. Regardless of who you are, the fact remains that many others have climbed out of worse situations than your own and emerged successful and happier for it.
Okay, but what exactly is the secret sauce? In other words, you are the problem.
And, to be even more precise, it's your brain. Everything else originates in your imagination. Your outlook, point of view, concentration, and disposition all have a role in how you feel. Further, your physical self will obey the instructions of your intellect.
If you're feeling fatigued, you could consider making some changes to your food or exercise routine. However, it is most likely your state of mind that requires attention first.
Everything relies on a plethora of other things. Whether it's a discussion of personal relationships, professional advancement, or financial stability, every aspect of life is interconnected. If you can't quit your day job, you'll never be able to look for a career that really fulfills you. Because you're flat broke?
And how exactly can you get out of debt if you are already flat broke?
Yet the first step toward transformation is often the most difficult. Moreover, it all begins with you. It all begins in your head.
You may improve your work performance by focusing your thoughts on doing the task better.
Relationship success is mental first, and mental first is the key to a better life. The key to a better LIFE is a better MINDSET.
Consider this pithy proverb:
Actually, the grass is always greener when it's watered.
It's Past Time for a Rethink
This is great and all, but how does one actually go about altering their mentality? How can you recapture your joy and happiness and begin leading a life that inspires you once more?
Fixing an issue requires identifying what it is. Just what is it that's wrong with your brain? And what steps can you take to correct the situation?
To put it mildly, there may be some serious issues with your mental health. Don't fret, however; this is a symptom of the times in which we live.
It's safe to assume that you're not entirely content with your current situation. Perhaps you're not happy with the current you. You are reading this book, thus I know this to be true.
If you find success with your current strategy, that's wonderful! But if it isn't operating as well as it may be, adjustments will have to be made.
Here are some jumping-off points that should help you zero in on what needs to be altered.
In the top position is the duty to
A major issue for most people is that they are unwilling or unable to accept responsibility for their own conduct.
Now, we've all met folks who shirk accountability; they're the ones who point fingers and provide excuses. These are the folks who, as we've seen, have an external locus of control.
To others around them, this may appear like a little annoyance, but it really goes far deeper and has a much greater impact on them.
Simply said, if you don't want to take any blame, then you don't want to be in charge of your own life. You can't claim credit for anything that goes well if you don't think that anything goes well. It also implies that you have no control over your life and no say in the matters that concern you.
It's not up to you; fate will decide.
In addition, it becomes much worse. If you are used to shirking your responsibilities, you are likely to do so in other areas of your life as well. That means you won't commit to anybody, which may make you feel free,
but in the long run will leave you behind as your peers find love and success in their chosen fields.
This implies that you will volunteer for fewer important projects at work. In the same vein, you can't expect to be paid a lot of money if you aren't trusted with a lot of cash.
The fear of taking charge will make you less impressive, less decisive, and less confident in everyday situations. Someone asking you to make a choice may make you uncomfortable since you don't want to take the blame if things go wrong.
We've learned irresponsibility, sadly, because of how simple life has made it for us to make mistakes. Thanks to modern conveniences, we no longer have to worry about the elements. Our childhoods have also become enormously longer, particularly for today's young people. Many of us now will continue our formal education until we are 18, and then spend another three, four, or six years in higher education. A lot of us don't start working until we're in our mid- to late-20s, and that's after taking a year off to find our feet
and going to college.
The recent economic downturn only made matters worse. Many recent graduates had trouble finding jobs, so they had no obligations beyond caring for themselves and sometimes their parents at home. Past generations were probably settled down with families and raising children in their own homes.
And it's not easy to change your mind. Being a perennial kid is a difficult state to shake. There are benefits to daydreaming and daydreaming in general (such as increased creativity, thinking big, and living in the present), but we risk being unprepared when reality catches up with us. We lack the mental toughness to deal with the upcoming difficulties. We used to be powerful, confident, and quick to act, but now we seem to have lost that capacity.
The question is, What can you do to make things better?
