Love Walking in Christ - Michael E. Zito I

    Show Love

I believe God’s purpose for mankind as we live and occupy this world is that we worship Him in spirit and in truth.

    Let’s read John 4:23–24 (NKJV).

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.

    See Matthew 22:37–40 (NKJV).

Jesus said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

It is also God’s will that we love our neighbors, and we are to love ourselves. Most of us have a real problem when it comes to loving ourselves in a healthy and righteous way. Therefore, how can we love others?

And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

It is also God’s will that we shine like lights in this dark world we live in.

    Let’s read Matthew 5:13–16 (NKJV).

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

As we go through our daily life, let us look for an opportunity to show love to those whom we come in contact with.

The Lord said that we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. That means we are to show love to everyone we come in contact with. Sometimes that can be just a smile or a word of encouragement.

Most people don’t want to know what you know until they know that you care. So that’s what someone once told me.

As we walk in the Spirit, so it is as we walk in love. The Bible tells us to put on the armor of God. The whole armor. Amen, amen.

We will talk more about the whole armor of God later in this book. Let’s talk about walking in love.

    Let’s read Ephesians 5:1–7 (NKJV).

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

    But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Therefore do not be partakers with them.

The more time we spend with God, the easier it is to be led by God’s Spirit. Jesus said, My sheep know my voice and another they will not follow. Hebrews 10:24 (NKJV) says, And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, and Hebrews 10:25 says, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

It pleases God when we spend time with other believers. Because we are family, and God is all about family. One reason why He sent Jesus to die was that He would build a family.

I am not saying that we don’t spend time with people who are not saved. If we had no dealings with unsaved people, how then would they be saved? We are told in verse 6, Do not let yourselves be deceived. How do we let ourselves be deceived?

Well! The best away I know. How not to be deceived is to know the truth. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’

So if Jesus is the truth, and He is, then the best way not to be deceived is to know Him. Jesus Himself has said that He wants us to come to Him and learn the truth. He has said that the truth that He will teach us will set us free.

    Learn of Me!

    Let’s read Matthew 11:25–30 (NKJV).

At that time Jesus answered and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes.

Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Christianity is more than just another religion—it is a relationship with the living God. It is having an ongoing fellowship with Christ Jesus—the Son of God and the Son of Man. It is the life of the Son of God made living in man.

Christ is Christianity and Christianity is Christ. He is the supreme subject of each book of the New Testament from His incarnation to His second coming as Lord of lords and King of kings.

    Let’s read Revelation 17:14 (NKJV).

These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. (Matthew 28:18)

    Getting to Know Him

Jesus said that He has power over everything. To me, that means everything. He has been given more power than anything else. So there is power in the name of Jesus. All help, righteous help, come from God. So always remember that God uses people as vessels of help and hope. God uses people to answer our prayers. Sometimes we don’t notice it is God who is working on our behalf. Romans 8:28 says, And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

    Let’s read John 8:31–36 (NKJV).

Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

They answered Him, We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?

Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.

And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

The word abide, simply put, is live! If we live in Jesus and Jesus in us, then we are sons of God.

    Following Him

    Read John 8:12 (NKJV).

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.

Following our lamb, Jesus, is not always easy, but it is always worth it.

When I was a little boy, I would follow my dad on hunting and fishing strips; it also was not easy, but spending time with my dad all throughout weekend trips was fun and rewarding. I learned how to fish for myself, not just fun sport but for food. Following Jesus is not just for fun. It is also for needed food, for life itself.

Amen. For man does not live off food alone, but every word that comes out of the mouth of God. Amen.

When we desire that we are going to follow Jesus, we will find all kinds of things will come against our decision. Satan hates us, and he doesn’t want us to follow Jesus. In this life, when we find something is worth doing, there will be someone or something trying to hinder us from doing it.

Loving God in Christ is not something we simply try to do. It is a relationship that we simply can’t and won’t live without.

Once we come to know that God is our heavenly Father, we do not want to live without Him. Well, at least, I don’t want to be ever without my Father. Amen.

To know the Son is to know the Father who sent Him. Amen.

    To Know the Son!

    Let’s read John 8:13–20 (NKJV).

The Pharisees therefore said to Him, You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not [a]true.

Jesus answered and said to them, "Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going.

You judge according to the flesh; I judge no one.

And yet if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent Me.

It is also written in your law that the testimony of two men is true.

I am One who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me."

Then they said to Him, Where is Your Father?

Jesus answered, You know neither Me nor My Father. If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also.

These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one laid hands on Him, for His hour had not yet come.

In the next few pages of this book, we are going to go through the pages of Saint John in order to learn more about the Son of God.

Most of us who have been born again for a while recommend to people who are seeking God to start in the Book of John. I myself also tell people who are seeking God, especially in boring times, to read the Psalms.

    To Know the Son!

As I was saying on the last page, he or she who is just starting to seek the Lord, I recommend they read Saint John, and when they are having a hard time praying that they read the book of Psalms out loud if possible.

I also have found out somewhat by grace and more grace. That if I can find someone to read to, it helps me a great deal to overcome hard times. Well, at the very least, it helps me to feel better about my relationship with the Father. Reading the Bible makes me, and it will make you too, stranger in every way.

So please don’t stop reading the Bible. The harder life gets, the more we should read the Bible. Not only read the Bible but find a Bible-reading church that you can get together with. Amen.

    Make some new friends. Hallelujah!

    Jesus is the eternal word.

    Let’s read John 1:1–5 (NKJV).

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

    The Word Became Flesh

    John 1:14–18 (NKJV) says,

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me [a]is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

[b]And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten [c]Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

John says to the people around him, many who were being baptized: Look this is the man we have been waiting for. He is before me. Older than me. According to the flesh, John was six months older than Him. I will always wonder how many knew that.

    Read John 1:27–34 (NKJV).

John the Baptist is yelling at the people there in the wilderness; next to the Jordan river make a way for the Messiah. They asked if John was the Christ, no he said.

It is He who, coming after me, [a]is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose."

These things were done in [b]Bethabara beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.

    The Lamb of God

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who [c]is preferred before me, for He was before me.’

I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water."

And John bore witness, saying, "I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him.

I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’

And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God."

Getting to Know God the Father through Jesus Christ the Son by the Holy Spirit, Jesus the Lamb God!

    Let’s read Revelations 5 (NKJV).

    The Lamb Takes the Scroll

And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.

Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?

And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open [a]and read the scroll, or to look at it.

But one of the elders said to me, Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and [b]to loose its seven seals.

And I looked, [c]and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

    Revelation 15:8 (NKJV) says,

The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power, and no one was able to enter the temple till the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.

Jesus Christ is the only one in all of creation who has the right to bring God’s judgment on the earth. Right now, we are in the age of the grace of God.

But as you can see, there will come a time of great wrath! God must judge Satan and those who take his mark one day. Maybe sooner than we think. So we best get right with God. Amen. Amen.

    True Love

    Let’s read 1 Corinthians 13:1–13 (NKJV).

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body [a]to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

    Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not [b]puffed up;

    does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, [c]thinks no evil;

    does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;

bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

For we know in part and we prophesy in part.

But when that which is [d]perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The kind of love that God speaks of in this chapter is called in old English charity and in Greek, which the New Testament is written in originally, is called Agpa (love).

It’s the kind of love that is a sacrificial one. It gives without asking for anything in return. It’s the kind of love that lays one’s self down for another. It’s the kind of love that the Father God has for His children. Amen.

    The Love of God

    Read Romans 5:1–5 (NKJV).

Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

    And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces [b]perseverance;

and perseverance, [c]character; and character, hope.

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love
