DEDICATION
The wind beneath my wings.
This book is dedicated to my loving husband,
PUNEET NARAYAN,
who has been nothing but supportive in all my
adventures without whom I would not be where I am.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
My gratitude to my guru and teachers, Murali Sundaram and Sachin Dahiya for the learnings and support as I stretch out to touch and help many more to have a better quality of life. I have to mention all the coaches around the world for inspiring my work as well.
I have to mention my dear family without whose support none of this would have been possible – my children, Tarang & Madhur Narayan, my brother Pratik Rathore and sister-in-law Teresa Rathore along with my parents D.P. Rathore & Usha Rathore and of course my husband Puneet Narayan for being the rock-solid support system and ever powering cheer leaders encouraging me to power through all the mind blocks I have encountered.
PREFACE
The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.
-Albert Einstein
This book is an attempt to help anyone who is ready to bring about a professional change in their lives for the better and embrace success.
I have divided the book into 3 sections
Section 1 - Pre-interview preparation
Section 2 - Interview questions and sample answers
Section 3 - Post-Interview activities
Only reading the book will not be enough. There is a lot for you to do. The language adopted here is formal to get you into the ‘professional formality’ of an interview.
Preparation for an interview does not start from the day you get your interview call, but days ahead. For you, that time is NOW - regardless of your age or professional stage.
If you have picked up this book, then this book is for you and will benefit you. Do not forget to make notes in the space provided at the end of the book as you read.
Let’s change your life!

SECTION -1
PRE-INTERVIEW
You can't be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it. You have to go down the chute.
-Tina Fey
Naina: Sapna ma’am, I am so blank about facing interviews. I really don't know what they will ask me in the interview. I don't even know how to prepare myself for it. This would be my first interview and I want to go well-informed about what to expect there. Can you please help me?
Coach Sapna Narayan: Of course Naina, I am happy that you have asked me this question. In fact, a lot of interviewees don't know what to expect in an interview and how to deliver. You are actually going for a competition. You are going to compete with others for the same position. Don't you think that one needs to research, understand and prepare for any competition?
Naina: Yes ma'am. I never looked at an interview as a competition. When you put things like this, it makes more sense to me to prepare myself better and research better so that I am comfortable and confident with my answers.
Coach Sapna Narayan: Indeed Naina, even before you prepare for the interview questions you should know what an interview is, types of interviews, types of interview questions and also how to present yourself for interviews.
The priming of your mindset and orientation of thoughts will give you an edge over the others. Very few candidates actually know what to prepare and fewer actually use the help of a coach to formulate answers that are uniquely theirs.
CHAPTER -1
WHAT IS AN INTERVIEW?
A
n interview is an answer to know and ascertain how to fit a man to the required job profile. Right person in the right job is what is aspired for.
If the interview is important for you, it is a pressure point for the interviewers as well. If they make a wrong choice with you, then there would be a cascading effect which will cost the company a lot of precious time and money to say the least. It's like a jigsaw puzzle, the right piece in the right spot is needed to complete the picture. It is beneficial to both the candidate and the organization, for it helps them to grow.
So, what is an interview?
When you split the word ‘interview’ you get two words, ‘inter’ and ‘view’. This means that both the groups involved in an interview are viewing each other for compatibility.
Objectives of Interview:
The interview is a conversation in which the prospect and an employer exchange information. Your objective is to get an offer of a job, and the employer's objective is to fit the right candidate in the right place. Let us find out what the objectives or goals of an interview are.
● It helps to verify the information provided by the candidate. It helps to ascertain the accuracy of the provided facts and information about the candidate.
● What the candidate has written in the resume are the authentic points. What other additional skill set does he have? All these are known by conducting interviews.
● It not only gives the interviewer information about the candidate’s technical knowledge but also gives an insight into the much-needed creative and analytical skills.
● Helps in establishing the relation between the employee and the company.
● It is useful for the candidate so that he comes to know about his profession, the type of work that is expected from
