Does that sound familiar?
Maybe I should quit this. I’m just not smart enough.
Everyone else seems to have it all together. Maybe it’s just me.
How many times have thoughts like these run through your mind? If you’re here today, my guess is it that the answer is often enough.
For any number of reasons, most people don’t want to talk about it. We may become critical of ourselves and proclaim that this shouldn’t be the way we feel; we choose to just ignore it and hope it goes away. Or maybe we’re just holding out for some kind of proof that we’re not stupid. We think that, when we reach the next goal—whatever that is—we won’t feel like this anymore.
The biggest reason we don’t open up is because we think we are alone in these feelings. But you are not alone. This is actually very common—especially among students.
The reality is that this fear of feeling stupid—and the feeling itself—is something that we’re more likely to feel as we progress in our studies or our
