LESSON 1 WHAT IS A LEADER?

    ––––––––

The leader is that person who is capable of influencing others.

It is the reference within a group (be it a sports team, a university course, a theater company, a company  department, etc.).

He is the person who has the leading voice within the group; Your opinion is the most valued. Leadership has nothing to do with the hierarchical position one occupies:

A person can be the head of a group and not be its leader and, on the contrary, he can be the leader  without being the boss.

The boss decides what needs to be done by virtue of the authority granted to him by his hierarchical position.

The leader, without necessarily having this hierarchical authority, also has the ability to decide the group's  actions based on the influence he exercises, which is determined by the moral authority he exercises over the  rest of the team.

It inspires confidence in the group members to know that the leader is at the head of the group.

What characterizes the leader is his ability to lead teams:

Get each member to work and contribute the best of themselves in the fight to achieve a common goal (be  it winning the championship, improving the company's results, winning political elections, etc.).

    ––––––––

In addition to this innate ability to manage teams, the leader is also characterized by his vision of the future.

He is a person who looks at the long term, who sets very ambitious objectives for the organization and who  manages to excite his team in the pursuit of them.

The leader anticipates changes, gets ahead of competitors.

A person who did not have this vision of the future could be a good manager, a good coordinator, but never a  true leader.

A person who was only concerned about his future well-being could hardly be the leader of an organization. She  would end up rejecting him.

    ––––––––

Once the leader has defined his vision for the future, he will fight with true passion to achieve the objectives. The leader represents for the rest of the group a true example of dedication, enthusiasm and courage.

A person who had a great vision of the future but lacked the ability to execute could be a good strategist, but  never a leader.

Some people possess these qualities innately, although they can also be acquired through learning and  experience.

LESSON 2 IS THE LEADER BORN OR MADE?

It is a question that arises whenever the topic of leadership is addressed.

The general opinion is that there are leaders who are born with innate abilities and there are others who are trained in their  professional development.

Innate abilities favor the development of the leader, but sometimes training is more decisive that one acquires and the experience one accumulates.

There are techniques for leadership, decision-making, team management, motivation, communication, etc. that the leader has  to know and master.

We must point out the importance of attending seminars on leadership, as well as reading books on the subject.

It is also very useful to get feedback from the group to see what is being done well and where there is room for improvement.

By assuming responsibilities, making decisions, solving problems, facing difficult situations, you will be able to forge an  authentic leader.

For this reason, it is not good to overprotect people in their human and professional development. It is important that from a young age they learn the value of effort, that they face certain difficulties, in short, that they learn to navigate life.

We must encourage employees to assume skills and get used to facing problems. It is about preparing them so that in the future they will be able to take the reins of the organization.

Preparation and experience are aspects that must be
