About this ebook

To read a blurb is quite absurd for a poetry book like this:

Adventure galore, ironical score, drama and a lover’s bliss,

Words from the heart, a legitimate start, regrets and agony too.

Reflections abound, lost siblings found, only to mention a few.

Remembering the past, dreams that last, not to be missed for quids,

Cleaning the pool, using the tools, and don’t forget the kids!

David Thirgood

David Thirgood has worked as an economist, a project manager and risk manager. He has had other opportunities including as an adviser in Saudi Arabia where the occasional fleeting moment aroused his creativity. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia and overseas. However, it was working in a school in Yulara near Uluru, amongst an eclectic group of people in the vicinity of one of Australia’s foremost environmental icons, that he discovered his passion for writing. The diversity and colours of the landscape, its history and and its people were his inspiration that has continued for more than a decade. David has had many opportunities to immerse himself in the natural environment, the true source of his stimulation.

Compendium of Poetry - David Thirgood

    About the Author

David’s inspiration to write comes largely from his love and respect for the natural environment. Knowledge gained from extensive travel and work abroad, combined with his desire to explore his home country, Australia, has supported his imaginative approach towards creating a diverse range of prose and poetry. His poetic metre and storyline style is influenced by poets such as A. B. Banjo Paterson’s The Man from Snowy River and The Geebung Polo Club and Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

    Dedication

I dedicate this work to my wife, Lynne, who has been my inspiration for creating poetry and writing novels for more than twenty-five years. As a teacher and educator with creative talents, she has spent many hours editing my work.

    Moods

You rang me today to say you’re sorry,

    For what I can’t remember.

Something to do with the mood you were in,

It’s vague, like a fading ember.

You were feeling a little down that day,

The pressures of work were upon you.

Apologies are not needed I say,

Whatever your mood I love you.

I love you when I can see you are mad.

I love you when you are down.

I love you when you’re very very bad,

But mostly when you are mine.

When I gaze upon you while you’re sleeping,

    I must confess I do.

This way I feel inside is keeping

    Alive my love for you.

I love you when you laugh at me

For something I do or say.

I love you when you think of trees.

I love you in every way.

    I love you when you’re very busy;

    Sometimes you really are.

I love you in your teaching mode.

I love you in your car.

When we talk on the phone for ages

And we finally have to go,

It breaks my heart in a little way

To know the call is through.

You probably think I’m a bit insane

    The way I carry on.

I really am a hopeless pain

    For chatting when your down.

I cannot help myself you see,

    For getting in your way.

It’s all the love inside of me,

    Every single night and day.

    I love you when you gaze at things;

    Those things I cannot see.

I love you when you’re thinking

    About everything but me.

    I love you
