INTRODUCTION
What’s goodie? My name is Vito! I’ve been playing Spades for most of my life. The first memory I have of playing Spades was when I was about seven years old. A bunch of teens from across the street needed a fourth, and I guess they thought it would be funny to try to teach a seven-year-old. The only thing I vividly remember is, at one point, I had to throw off for us to make our books and after a lot of contemplation, I played the right card, and everyone went crazy! I wouldn’t play Spades again until I was in middle school. I honed my skills on the high school tables of Boys and Girls High School and among close friends. Spades has helped me learn how to communicate, pay attention, listen, follow someone’s lead, and trust my partner. It has also allowed me to meet and connect with people across different age groups, socioeconomic platforms, and cultures. Spades is a great game!
I’m writing this book for a few reasons. The first reason is simple: No one teaches people how to play Spades after a certain age (also, a lot of people don’t know how to teach). Once you become an adult, it's hard to find someone who will teach you how to play Spades. Teaching requires a lot of patience, and for you to learn, you will have to lose a few games, and people hate losing in Spades. So I’m writing this book for people who want to learn how to play Spades, to provide a safe environment for you to do it in. The second reason I wrote
