However, depending on which side you belong in valuing the privately held co becomes a tedious task in terms of information flow. If you are mandated by the target itself then Co management provides all the required data. But if you don’t have access to the management at all then it’s almost impossible to carry out a detailed DCF of the Target. Information holds the key.
