I've seen many examples of innovation in organisation's with limited resources. All it takes is 1. Open communication 2. Trust with the team that they will get due credit for their ideas and innovation 3. Confidence to conitnue despite failure with micro experiments 4. Multiple iterations and corrections 5. The devil is always in the detail Whether an organisation is innovative or not is often a reflection on the leadership.

I would say that's a very apt situation.Scarcity as mother of innovation has been proven time and again...Lean systems, alternative materials, Renewable energy, many start up emerged to utilise under utilised facility, High yield crops ,zero waste movement and many more... Few concepts which would help in such situations 1. Doing more with less 2. Substitution 3. Derivative and by products 4. Constraint based creativity 5. Resource pooling 6. Make it a matter of survival 7. Reducing consumption.

It does not incur cost to think. The actual expense is during implementation. I can recollect situations where we have designed a robust solution requiring a heavy infra and technology support. But while building the MVP solution we have leveraged the open source apps, low cost infra and leveraging interested and invested people. An environment of open communication definitely acts as a catalyst for innovation. Lastly accepting failures and no outcomes is the biggest trigger to motivate for the next innovation. Finding a resilient and self motivated set of people who are ready to move ahead even if the current venture fails.

This is a bad question. Limited resources are good for innovation, as it focuses innovation on higher order priorities and/or pragmatic things that can be done, neither of those are a bad thing for a business. Ideas are usually not in short supply, it's about pointing folks at the right shape ideas for this business context, and when the time is right ensuring more ambitious thinking (bold and brave) is encouraged, rewarded and supported.

GenAI is here, start using it to generate ideas. 💡 ideas are pretty cheap, it’s the execution that makes the difference. Of course it’s important to iterate along the way listening to what would create the most value.

Innovation culture is paramount irrespective of resources at hand. Empowering the team and open communication based thinking acts as a huge catalyst. Further, celebrating small wins as well as pursuing ideas helps in keeping the fire of innovation alive. Rapid prototyping and the concept of build fast & fail fast helps in learning and moving on to different ideas rapidly in limited resources scenario

I would argue Idea generation is typically not lacking. The ability to find problems to solve, prototype and test concepts with users, or develop technically challenging solutions are where low funding hurts the most. I have found a very refined rubric for early idea prioritization helps to combat this. It’s is still typical to leave promising ideas undeveloped when resources are low.
