We see that happening on platforms like Snap and elsewhere. It’s very, very scary, and obviously horrendous for the children involved. And that’s like a criminal operation at scale. We see children being isolated and kind of that Fomo [fear of missing out] becoming overwhelming for them in terms of anxiety because of social platforms. You’ll have read that latest Facebook whistleblower book [Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams]. When you read that, they’re developing a product to target girls with advertising when they take a selfie and then delete it. Thanks for sharing Alex Mahon. I'm the digital inclusion lead for Essex and I've made it my business to look at this. Education and protection done together can help. I am about to buy a child safe SIM for my son and a basic phone and I will write about my experiences.
Children themselves get roped into spreading the scams at an alarming rate and then they have nobody to turn to. I hope you can use your influence and ingenuity to combat this.
