Alpha generation influencing global workforce before even starting a primary school
Millennials… true heroes of never ending articles and books highlighting advantages and disadvantages of 1990s generation, shaping a stereotype of that cohort and the way they live and work. But what if most of these myths may be challenged or even rewritten soon? Why? Every day, in thousands of Millennials homes across the globe, the next, Alpha generation, is popping up and influencing parents like nothing before.
In the environment I observe every day, this wave is yet to come and is very unpredictable. I just feel it will be big, powerful and will heavily impact the way Millennials work and live, meaning it will change the workforce we all work with. Expected work environment and job stability, set of benefits, perks, etc. may change overnight with Alpha kid joining the family. Play Stations or table football in the office may get lower prioritized, not to mention every second day after-work meetings with colleagues. Even home office may get redefined with 6 months old child crying and requiring natural support and care. God only knows what it can mean for flexibility of 1990s or how it may even further strengthen expected social responsibility of businesses. Now it will be not only about my planet, but also about my own child, so the bar goes really high.
Have you already noticed any impact of Alpha kids on your teams or customers? Or maybe you are a Millennial and you want to share what it meant or may mean for you? I’m happy to discuss and learn from you what to expect very soon. To learn how to effectively lead and partner with Millennials, being proud mothers and fathers of lovely Alphas :)
As an additional food for thoughts I link an interesting article, analyzing more commercial aspect of Alphas, still very interesting to consider in any business strategies.
So warmly welcome dear Alphas! I'm sure it's going to be a top exciting experience to observe it, both professionally and privately, how you are influencing Millennials and shortly Z-gen parents!
