Talent in the City - Vol 1 Let’s change the status Quo
Let’s change the status Quo
As the year draws to a close, we all seem to start the new year the same it’s normally with a list of new year’s resolutions, often unrealistic putting far too much pressure on ourselves to be perfect.
Change is never easy. Just the idea of leaving old habits, things, and people behind can be enough to make us feel uneasy. There’s this the overwhelming sense of uncertainty that can make us feel afraid of finally making that big change and starting over.
Even if you resist or avoid it, it will enter your life just the same. When you initiate the change yourself, it’s pretty easy to adapt to it, since it’s a wanted one.
Personally, I have been embracing change from such a young age. During my life I have moved schools twice, moved to a new house around 10 times! And changed careers from a Beauty therapist, a car salesperson and finally – like most recruiters I fell into recruitment!
Each and every move, every career change brought knowledge and new experiences. It brought self-confidence and all those changes led me to the realisation of what I wanted to do with my life and where I wanted to go!
The biggest change in life occurred for me when I became Mum. This change brought the strength to function with minimal sleep, true love, peace and comfort into my life. A new me was born.
I’ve realised that all the good things in my life are the result of change that occurred in the past. We tend to avoid change and prefer to stay in our comfort zones, but I am a true believer that once you get the courage and you take that first step to change, your life will become much better!
You become more Adaptable
Frequent changes make’s you adaptable to new situations, new environments, and new people. As a result, you don’t go into panic when something unexpectedly shifts.
You open yourself up to new Opportunities
We can never really be certain what each change may bring. But when you turn from your usual path there will be plenty of different opportunities waiting for you.
Personal Development
You change, you grow, you develop. You learn new things with every little change you make in your life. You discover new insights about different aspects of your life.
It’s not just the 1st January, it’s every day, every day is a new beginning. Every day gives you the opportunity to prove yourself better and better, to do something good to prove your self-worth. Don’t be afraid start over. It’s a new change to rebuild things. This time better. The way you want it.
So, take the job, travel do what ever it is you ned to do! Tomorrow is not just another day. It’s a new opportunity, another year, another change, a new beginning. Embrace it!
We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called opportunity and it’s first chapter is New Year’s Day.
What will yours say? What will you write?
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all that matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on” – Steve Jobs
