Your Name: Cristen McCarroll Lesson Title: Nuts and Bolts of Computer Networking Introduction: This lesson will introduce and explain how a network functions and introduce the components necessary to start, run and maintain a computer network for an school/district. Content Area and Grade or Age Level of Students: Created for an in-service of secondary level educators. Objectives: The student will learn and form a comprehension of network components and how it runs. The student will display comprehension of the material by completing a quiz/wkst over the covered material. Standards Addressed: (what national, state or local standards are being addressed with this lesson? The focus should always be on content area standards.) Relative Advantage: This is an online instructed teacher in-service, so teachers can complete the lesson on their own time and at there own pace. Timeline: Teachers should be able to complete the lesson any where from an hour to two. Materials: All materials will be provided through the power point presentation. Grouping Strategies: None Learning Activities: The in-service starts with a simple introduction of what is a Computer Network. This will be explained through slides. There is a video clip to help support the information that is being given. Then the learners will participate in an online scavenger hunt in order to locate varies information and build an understanding of computer networks. At the conclusion of the lesson, a quiz will be given. Assessment: The learning assessment will be in the form of a quiz, given electronically through the power point presentation. Adaptations for Learners with Special Needs: Modifications will be made on a needs basis. References:
