TITLE: EVERYDAY USE AUTHOR: ALICE WALKER SETTING: One wavy afternoon, in their yard CHARACTERS: Mother a caring mother Maggie- a helpful daughter Dee- she is a selfish sister PLOT: a.) Exposition -one wavy afternoon, Alice is recalling what happens in their house ten to twelve years passed. b.) Complication- because of the burned scars, Maggie was ashamed to meet other people. c.) Climax- because of the quilt, Maggie and Dee has a big misunderstanding. Dee asked her mother to give the quilt to her. But her mother already promised the quilt to Maggie, and that was the reason why they have a misunderstanding to each other. d.) Resolution- before Dee leave the house, she gave a tight hug to Maggie and to her mother. THEME: We must look back where we came from. CRITICAL ANALYSIS: In this story, I believe that Alice is telling us about their culture. At the same time, she shared story of her life as a mother of her two daughters named, Maggie and Dee.
