Gweidner Flow-Conversions

This document provides conversion factors for units of flow rate commonly used in engineering. It lists conversion factors to convert between units such as gallons per hour, liters per minute, cubic feet per minute, and cubic meters per hour. The document notes that the reverse conversion is the reciprocal of the listed factor and can be found by dividing 1 by the factor if a specific conversion is not listed. It includes a table of conversion factors to perform unit conversions between these common flow rate units.

Conversion Factors for Units of Flow Rate

Terms and Abbreviations

ft = foot gal = gallon gpm = gallons per minute hr = hour l = liter m = meter min = minute ml = milliliter

Notes on using the chart

To get the reverse of any conversion, divide 1.0 by the conversion factor. For example, the factor to convert ft3/hr to gal/hr is 7.4805, so the factor to convert gal/hr to ft3/hr is 1/7.4805 = 0.1337

If you cannot find a particular conversion (suppose, for example gpm to l/min), try looking for the reverse conversion (l/min to gpm). If you find the reverse conversion, divide it into 1.0 to get the conversion you need.
