Computations 100 1. Generate the Lines plan (in AutoCAD), given a non-dimensionalized offset table. Fair it. 10 2. Close the faired Offset Table : list the closing waterlines for every station and vice-versa. 5 3. (a) Calculate the Weight, given the material is mild steel and the thickness is 20 mm. 10 Caution: Include the main deck. (b) Plot the weight distribution as a function of length. (c) Centre of Gravity : Find the VCG and LCG. Find the neutral axis of the mid-ship section. (d) Find the section modulus of the deck and the keel. 4. Calculate Hydrostatics as a function for Draught. (Submit plots) 25 (a) WPA characteristics : Area of waterplane, Cw, TPC, Ixx, Iyy. (b) Volume characteristics : Buoyancy, Centre of Buoyancy, Cb, Cp, LCB, VCB. (c) Metacentric radius : BMT, BML. (d) Metacentric height : GMT, GML. (e) Moment to change trim by 1 cm : MCT_1cm. (f) Midship section characteristics : Midship section area, Cm. 5. Calculate the Lightship Draught T and Displacement . What is the closing station for this waterline? Mention all the above hydrostatic parameters for this WL. 5 6. Strength Calculations. 20 (a) Buoyancy distribution at lightship draft as a function of length. Load distribution as a function of length. (b) Shear force distribution as a function of length. Bending moment distribution as a function of length. (c) Slope distribution as a function of length. Deflection distribution as a function of length. (d) Tensile/compressive stress at deck/keel. Shear stress at the neutral axis. 7. Statical Stability : Calculate and plot the KN and GZ curves. (AutoCAD) 15 (a) Find the initial stability and verify with that in (4). (b) Find the maximum righting lever. Find the angle of maximum righting moment. (c) Find the Angle of vanishing stability. Find the energy needed to heel the vessel as a function of heel angle.

8. Trim.
