This document outlines the minimum enrollment status requirements for standard term programs and clock-hour or nonstandard term programs. For standard term programs, full-time status is a minimum of 12 credit hours per term, three-quarter time is 9 credit hours per term, and half time is 6 credit hours per term. Schools can define higher credit hour thresholds for full-time status. Clock-hour or nonstandard term programs define full-time status as a minimum of 24 semester hours per academic year or 24 clock hours per week. Schools have flexibility to establish their own enrollment status definitions above the minimum requirements.

the financial aid office uses 12 hours as full-time for all terms including
the summer term. The school must apply its standards consistently to all
students enrolled in the same program of study, for all SFA purposes.
