Labour Law Introduction

Labour laws aim to restrict working hours and ensure timely payment of wages while protecting workers' rights to organize and collectively bargain. The utility of labour law is to prevent exploitation of workers, maintain healthy employer-worker relations, and support productive work. Labour laws are necessary to stop worker exploitation through legal action if needed. In Bangladesh, there are four types of labour laws: restrictive laws like the Factories Act; protective laws like the Industrial Relations Ordinance; social security laws like the Worker Compensation Act; and welfare laws such as the Companies Profit Act.

Q.4: How many types of Labour Laws in Bangladesh? Ans: There are four types of Labour Laws in Bangladesh. They are: Restrictive Labour Law-The Factories Act, 1965. Protective Labour Laws-IRO, 1969 (Industrial Relation Ordinance, 1969). The social security Labour Law-The worker compensation Act, 1923. Welfare Labour Law-The companies profit Act, 1968.
