SOP For Blackout

1) Upon blackout, check that the Emergency Operating Procedure (EOP) has started and close extraction valves manually to prevent backflow. Arrange for manual turbine barring and start as the turbine comes to a standstill. 2) For boilers, close main steam safety valves manually and operate startup vents as needed. Check furnace draft and try closing dampers manually or open inspection doors if draft remains high. Start boiler feed pumps only after clearance from electrical and startup of auxiliary systems. 3) Follow normal hot startup procedures after auxiliary systems are running and drum levels are normal.

SOP for blackout condition.

Action to be taken in Turbines :1. First action in blackout is to check the EOP has started or not. 2. Close HP and dearator extraction MOVs manually to avoid back passing of QCNRV. 3. Close MSSV of TG inlet manually and open all drains . 4. Arrange manpower for manual barring and start manual barring as turbine comes in standstill condition. 5. During barring safety is to be taken that the LPBS of barring motor should be in pressed condition otherwise barring will start as power will resume. 6. While manual barring ensure that temp of any bearing should not increase above 90 deg. As it increases , increase the rate of barring. 7. As power resumes take clearance from electrical to start drives and start LOP , SOP , remove LPBS of barring and start barring . 8. Fill overhead tank and normalize the lube oil system. 9. Start ACW pump and compressors.

Action to be taken in Boilers :1. Close MSSV of boiler and operate startup vent manually as minimum required. 2. Check furnace draft of boilers if it is coming more then -1 mmWC then try manually closing of damper . 3. Even after manual closing draft is not coming down then open the ID inlet and APH manhole doors. 4. When power resumes take clearance from electrical deptt. to start Boiler Feed pump. 5. Start BFP only after starting of ACW and compressors. 6. Taken normal drum level in boiler and then start boiler as per the hot startup procedure.
