Month of Awareness
October is a month full of awareness. Some of them include Domestic Violence, Breast Cancer and Bullying. Being military families we all have access to a variety of resources to help us cope should we find ourselves faced with these issues. Our number one resource is always Fleet and Family Support Center. They have a walk-in service to set up counseling from 0730-1630 or you can call at (504)678-7569. If privacy is a concern calling Military OneSource (http://www.militaryonesource.mil or 800-342-9647) is always a great option. They offer over the phone emergency counseling and a referral can be made for services off base. Military OneSource has lots and lots of information through blogs and articles for all sorts personal matters. It is highly recommended if you are looking for ways to combat issues like bullying.
With medical concerns it is always best to visit your PMC. This person is also a good resource if you are looking for confidentiality. This confidentiality is also found with the liaisons for the Family Advocacy Program. They can be contacted at FFSC. In closing I want to stress the importance of being aware of the resources available to us. Many organizations will post many articles bringing awareness to these resources. You are never alone and someone is always available to help.
