Summary of the Case


HSS is a High End Textile Company at Bangalore The company wants to start a plant at Hassan situated near Bangalore

HSS hires Maniyam as GM-HR He plans to reach out rural areas focusing on girls who have completed their 12th std.

Maniyam studies geography of Karnataka and narrows down on ninedistricts Maniyam contact principals of the nine districts to identify potential candidates

He also sets up a training center ,hostel facilities and invites and MBA from U.K. In October, principals from the nine districts arrived along with the MD and VP-HR of HSS ltd. The MD and VP-HR explained Maniyam that his style of functioning did not comply with the culture of HSS. Maniyam got shocked and responded by submitting his papers i.e. he resigned from HSS ltd. Maniyam thought that the VP-HR was jealous because he was of the same age. Later, HSS recruited 500 girls from Karnataka with a salary of Rs.3000+ per month.

What made the MD change his mind and go against Maniyam? What role might the VP HR have played in the episode?

Answer: Maniyam An Ethical person. The VP-HR was successful in convincing MD of the company that the company did not require ethics as much as it required Growth and Profit.
