Sketchbook Assignments
You will complete four sketchbook assignments during quarter 3. These need to be completed in pencil (unless otherwise stated) and fill one page of the sketchbook. They should also be labeled with sketchbook assignment number.
Seventh Grade Art Each assignment is worth 20 points. All sketchbooks equal approximately the same number of points as 1 project grades- you will hurt your grade if you dont do them! Late Sketchbook assignments will lose 5 points per day and will not be accepted after 1 week late.

Each sketch is labeled and dated clearly. Obvious care is taken with maintaining sketchbook. Each sketch uses the whole of the paper and shows great attention to detail. Compositional elements are purposefully arranged. Students put forth a great deal of time, energy and thought behind their sketches. Students go above and beyond the basic requirements of the assignment to create detailed and informative studies which stand alone. Student sketches are neatly drawn, without smudge marks or blemishes and display many of the elements and principles of art.

Each sketch is labeled and dated clearly. Sketchbook looks well maintained and up to date. Sketches mostly use the whole sheets of paper. Sketches are all complete with attention to detail and composition is mostly purposeful. Students completes sketches on time with thought and energy behind work, if sometimes rushed. Student sketches reflect originality and ability to show unique ideas.

Many sketches not labeled or dated. Sketchbook is beginning to look worn or stained. Sketches fill at least half of the page and show a satisfactory level of completion. Minimal thought towards placement of elements. Student frequently hurries through sketchbook assignments and spends minimal time planning ideas. Student sketches reflect the minimum requirements for the sketchbook assignment.

Sketches fail to complete the objectives of the assignment and show no individualized thought or show evident of clichs/ mimicking. Student sketches are lost in smudging and stains. No evidence of elements or principles of art in work.
