Sketchbook Assignments
You will complete four sketchbook assignments during quarter 3. These need to be completed in pencil (unless otherwise stated) and fill one page of the sketchbook. They should also be labeled with sketchbook assignment number.

Sketch Assignment #1 Due: Friday February 8th

Create a full page composition using a combination of 3-dimensional and 2dimensional arrows (see example on how to make them). Use overlapping to break up the spaces into interesting positive and negative shapes. Think up an interesting color scheme and fill the negative shapes (background spots, NOT the arrows) with colored pencil or marker

Sketch Assignment #2 Due: Friday March 1st

Design a machine to complete a task or chore that you dont like to do. Think about including where it gets power from, what it would need physically to complete the task, etc.

Sketch Assignment #3 Due: Friday March 15th

Create a stencil of an organic shape (not geometric) that is big enough to fit a 2 inch by 2 inch box inside it and trace it at least 10 times on paper overlapping each time. Use colored pencils to fill in shape except where it overlaps. Mix colors together in the overlapping sections.

Sketch Assignment #4 Due: Friday March 28th

Using a magazine, find 10 images that show different types of texture. Label each with a name for the texture (soft, rough, spiky, sandy, etc)

Seventh Grade Art Each assignment is worth 20 points. All sketchbooks equal approximately the same number of points as 1 project grades- you will hurt your grade if you dont do them! Late Sketchbook assignments will lose 5 points per day and will not be accepted after 1 week late.
