NEWS RELEASE FROM OASIS

Oasis Change of Use Planning Application for Hercules House is approved by Lambeth Planning Committee Oasis is delighted to announce that the Change of Use Planning Application submitted in September 2012 to the London Borough of Lambeth for Hercules House, Hercules Road, London, SE1 7DU to accommodate the proposed Free Secondary School, Oasis Academy South Bank, was unanimously approved at a meeting of the Lambeth Planning Committee on 15th February 2013. The Change of Use application, prepared by Architects Co-Partnership, was to change the buildings designation from office, to mixed educational and office use. It is hoped that, in the near future, the site will be acquired in order to accommodate Oasis Academy South Bank - Oasis Community Learnings proposed Free School which is due to open in September 2013. The school will launch with an initial intake of 120 Year 7 students. Oasis continues to work closely with the Department for Education over the acquisition of the building in order to establish the new secondary school there as its permanent site. Once secured, the building will be redesigned to offer students an exceptional learning environment with state of the art facilities. It is hoped the building will become a beacon of outstanding education for people of all ages in Waterloo and offer a range of community services and facilities. Steve Chalke, Oasis Founder, and Waterloo Hub Leader said: I am delighted that the Lambeth Planning Committee has approved the Change of Use Application as this brings our long-awaited and popular secondary school one step closer to opening. I would like to thank all the members of the local community, our colleagues at the Department for Education, and the Bishops Ward councillors who have supported us during the planning process. A recent statutory consultation revealed overwhelming public support for the new Free School. Applications for places in the Year 7 class of 2013 may be made until February 15th 2013.
