5ft x 5ft cold frame with automatic vent openers

Materials needed 3 - 3 hinges 1 Vent opener http://www.groworganic.com/automatic-vent-opener.html 11 - 2x4x 8 1 bundle - lathe boards Plastic to cover frames (2 6x 8 remnants from Farm Tech is what I used) You will use both sides of the cuts, so center the saw blade on the measurement given and keep both pieces Cut 2 pieces 2x4x61 (A) Cut 2 pieces 36 out of one 2x4x 8 Rip 2 2x4x8 into 2x2s Rip the 35 inch pieces remaining from the 61 cuts above into 2x2s Rip the 24 inch piece remaining from the 2 36 cuts above into 2x2s (M) Cut 6 pieces 2x4x60 (B) Cut 4 36 pieces on a 10 degree angle across the 4 side of the 2x4. Cut the long side of the angle at 23 (C) & 13 (D) Cut 2 36 pieces on a 10 degree angle across the 1.5 side of the 2x4. Cut the long side of the angle at 22 (E) & 13 (F) Cut 2 36 pieces on a 10 degree angle across the 1.5 side of the 2x4.Cut the long side of the angle at 19 (G) & 16 (H) Cut 4 60 pieces from the 2x2s (I) & 36 (J) Cut 2 24 pieces from the 35 inch 2x2s (K) & 11 (L)

After assembling all of the pieces as shown (I use screws), cover each piece individually with plastic using the lathe boards to hold the plastic on. Put the 6 ft width of plastic across the 5ft width of the assemblies, wrapping the plastic to cover all exposed wood. This allows the cold frame to be assembled in the patch and disassembled for storage. Piece L is used to mount the vent opener to. Use the final two 35 inch 2x2s as stakes to make sure a wind storm doesnt flip the cold frame.
