MARKET ANALYSIS:
Key benchmark indices edged lower in choppy trade after data released by the US Commerce Department on Wednesday, 30 January 2013, showed a surprise fourth-quarter contraction in the US economy which is the world's biggest economy. The barometer index, BSE Sensex, hit two-week low. BSE Sensex was down 106.06 points or 0.53% to 19,898.94. S&P CNX Nifty was down 22.15 points or 0.37% to 6,033.60. Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 21 stocks fell while the rest of them rose. Index heavyweight and cigarette maker ITC rose 1.45% to Rs 308. The stock hit record high of Rs 308.75 in late trade today, 31 January 2013. Jet Airways (India) jumped 4.96% to Rs 625.80 after the Ministry of Commerce & Industry today, 31 January 2013, said that a delegation of Jet Airways and Etihad Airlines of UAE including Mr. Naresh Goyal, Chairman Jet Airways and James Hogan, President and CEO of Etihad Airways met Union Minister of Commerce Industry and Textiles Mr. Anand Sharma. Power Finance Corporation (PFC) gained 1.33%. PFC after market hours on Wednesday, 30 January 2013, reported 1% growth in net profit to Rs 1117 crore on 36% growth in total income to Rs 4466 crore in Q3 December 2012 over Q3 December 2011. Punjab National Bank (PNB) jumped 9.92% on good Q3 results. The bank's net profit rose 13.52% Rs 1305.62 crore on 10.38% increase in total income Rs 11518.95 crore in Q3 December 2012 over Q3 December 2011.
