MARKET ANALYSIS:
Key benchmark indices dropped for the fourth day in a row on concerns that PSU disinvestment and reduction of promoter stake to meet the Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi) mandated minimum public shareholding of 25% for private companies and 10% for state-run firms will result in supply of equity in the market over the next few months. BSE Sensex was down 83.29 points or 0.42% to 19,667.90. S&P CNX Nifty was down 28.15 points or 0.47% to 5,959.10. Among the 30-share Sensex pack, 16 stocks fell while the rest of them rose. FMCG stocks, Hindustan Unilever, Marico, Godrej Consumer Products and Tata Global Beverages shed by 0.54% to 2.52%. JSW Energy fell 1.1%. The company today, 5 February 2013, said that Unit V of 135 megawatts (MW) of the 8X135MW Power Project at Barmer, Rajasthan, has been successfully commissioned and has achieved Commercial Operation Date (COD) from 5 February 2013. Most metal stocks declined. Sterlite Industries (India), Bhushan Steel, JSW Steel, Sail, Hindustan Zinc Jindal Steel & Power and Bhushan Steel shed by 0.2% to 2.71%. Tata Steel and Hindalco Industries rose by 0.4% to 0.46%.Telecom stocks dropped. Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra), Reliance Communications and Idea Cellular dropped by 0.4% to 1.54%.
