Basic Chess Openings - Italian Game

The Italian Game sees White opt for fluid piece development by deploying a Bishop to c4 after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6, to which Black responds similarly with Bc5. White usually continues with natural developing moves like d3, 0-0, Nc3 and Bg5, though some seek a more dynamic game through the Evan's Gambit on the 4th move. The opening promotes fluid development but White's advantage is often minimal, as Black can usually equalize through natural developing moves of their own.
