Haptic Technology: Abstract:Ha Ptic Technology, or Haptics, Is

Haptic technology provides tactile feedback to users through forces, vibrations, and motions. This allows users to interact with and control virtual objects in computer simulations. It enhances the sense of touch in virtual reality systems, similar to how computer graphics enhances vision. Haptic devices apply opposing forces on the user's hands and fingers to simulate touching real objects. Creating effective haptic technology requires complex algorithms, engineering, and programming to replicate multi-dimensional tactile sensations.

Haptic technology

Abstract:Ha ptic technology, or haptics, is

a feedbacktech nology which takes advantage of a user'ssense

of touch by applying forces, vibrations,an d/or motions upon the

user. This mechanicalst imulation may be used to assist in the creation

of virtual objects (objects existing only in a computer si

mulation), for control of such virtual objects, andfor theenhancem

ent of the remote control of machines and devices (teleoperator

s). It has beendescribe d as "(doing) for the sense of touch whatcompute

touch into their virtualreality systems without a mistake . this

real world, persons receive and disseminatei nformation in three-

dimensional space. In a virtualworld, the user can access information

by imitatingthat threedimensional space. To incorporate

thesense of touch (the haptic sense), a device iscreated that

allowed the user to interact with acomputer by receiving tactile

feedback. A hapticdevice achieves this feedback by applying adegree of

opposing force to the user along the x,y, and z axes. While there is now

some hapticsoftwa re, much of the design is algorithmic. However, to

create a force feedback device stillrequires a great deal of math and

engineering aswell as computer graphic and computer languageskill

of a real object must be capable of recreating the forces applied by

the object on thehuman hand with the same intensity and the
