Pre-RMO and RMO in Mumbai Region in 2012 Leading to the participation in the Indian National Mathematical Olympiad, 2013 and International Mathematical Olympiad, 2013

1. pre-RMO examination
Students from Class IX, X, XI and XII are eligible to appear for the pre-RMO. Highly motivated students from Class VIII may also take the pre- RMO. It is a two-hour test. For every question the candidate will be required to report only the answer without showing detailed working. No Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) will be asked. The syllabus for pre-RMO is the same as that of RMO.

2. Criteria for qualifying for RMO 2012


Any student wishing to write the Regional Mathematical Olympiad 2012 (RMO 2012) will have to qualify in the pre-RMO examination to be held on October 7, 2012. The top 240 students from Class XI or below and the top 60 students from Class XII in the merit list prepared on the basis of total marks obtained in the pre-RMO examination will be eligible to write the RMO 2012. In the event of a tie for the last position all students securing the last rank (240 for Class XI or below and 60 for Class XII) will be eligible to write the RMO 2012. A student securing zero mark in the examination will not be considered for the merit list. If the number of students securing non-zero marks is less than 300 then all of them will qualify for RMO 2012.

3. RMO 2012 examination


The RMO 2012 examination will be held on December 02, 2012.
