The 14th Dalai Lama
The Dalai Lama is a advocate of world peace. He was big into solving and having peace with Tibet and China. He experienced dehumanization in the Tibet war. In that war one million Tibetans died. He saw over 90 Tibetans set themselves on fire in protest of the Chinese government's oppressive regime. To help out with the suffering the Dalai lama didnt use violence, as stated by the Committees citation. (He was awarded the Nobel peace prize for his efforts.) "The Committee wants to emphasize the fact that the Dalai Lama in his struggle for the liberation of Tibet consistently has opposed the use of violence. He has instead advocated peaceful solutions based upon tolerance and mutual respect in order to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of his people." Dalai Lama believes as humans our responsibility at LEAST is to have compassion. He believes, compassion compels us to reach out to all living beings, including our so-called enemies, those people who upset or hurt us. Irrespective of what they do, if you remember that all beings like you are only trying to be happy. Some traits that the Dalai Lama has exercised that everyone should use is peace. No matter what happens you cant fight fire with fire, because it will just make a bigger fire. Which is true. If you hit someone back because they hit you it causes a fight, not a solution. One of my favorite quotes by the Dalai Lama that supports my idea is, if you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another.
