Korean Wave

The document discusses the spread and influence of South Korean culture known as Hallyu or the Korean Wave. It started in 1999 when Chinese journalists noticed the growing popularity of Korean entertainment and culture in China. Korean dramas, movies, pop music groups like TVXQ and Big Bang helped drive the spread of Hallyu. This led to increased tourism to Korea and a wider international market for Korean products. Hallyu also influenced entertainment and the spread of Korean culture and language to other countries. However, some negative impacts included teenagers spending excessively on idol merchandise and some getting plastic surgery to look like stars.
