Mis Advantage and Disadvantage

An MIS provides several key advantages for organizations including facilitating planning through relevant information for decision making, minimizing information overload by summarizing large amounts of data, encouraging decentralization by monitoring operations at lower levels, bringing coordination by keeping departments aware of each other's needs, and making control easier by evaluating and improving performance. However, MIS also has some disadvantages such as being highly sensitive and requiring constant monitoring, having an extremely difficult budgeting process, relying on the quality of inputs to determine output quality, lacking flexibility to update itself, decreasing effectiveness due to frequent changes in top management, and only taking qualitative factors into account while ignoring non-quantitative ones.
