Activase (alteplase) is used to treat thrombus formation by activating plasminogen synthesis. DRUG STUDY FOR: ALTEPLASE INDICATIONS SIDE EFFECTS Treatment to prevent thrombus formation. Hypotension, ileus, syncope, back pain, malaise, flatulence, hemorrhage, gastritis, hiccough, ulcerative stomatitis ADVERSE EFFECTS Bleeding, Shock.

Anti thrombotic MECHANISM OF ACTION Activates plasminogen synthesis.

CONTRAINDICATIO NS Hypersensitivity.

NURSING CONSIDERATIONS 1. Monitor the dosage to be given. 2. Practice aspetic technique during medication administration. 3. Watch out for bleeding manifestations. 4. Instruct patient to report if any pain, or discomfort is felt on the injection site. ROUTE AND DOSAGE 100 mg/ vial, to be infused in 3 hours
