Section B: Distance (KM) Town S 120

1. The document contains two distance-time and speed-time graphs. The first graph shows the journeys of a bus and van between two towns. It asks to calculate the time the van was traveling, the time they would meet if the bus left at 11am, and the distance from town S when they meet. It also asks for the average speed of the bus. 2. The second graph shows the speed-time graph of a train over 85 minutes. It asks to state the time the train moved at a uniform speed, calculate the rate of change of speed in the last 25 minutes, and calculate the value of v if the total distance traveled was 158.75 km.

Diagram 1 The graph ABCD represents the journey of the bus from town S to town P. The graph EF represents the journey of the van from town P to town S. The van leaves town P 20 minutes later than the time the bus leaves town S and they travel along the same road. (a) State the time, during which the van was travelling from town P to town S. (b) (i) if the bus had started its journey at 11.00 am, at what time would the vehicles meet? (ii) find the distance, in km, of the vehicles from town S when they meet. (c) Calculate the average speed, in , of the bus for the whole journey. [5 marks]

Diagram 2 (a) State the length of time that the train moves with a uniform speed. (b) Find the rate of change of speed in the last 25 minutes. (c) If the total distance travelled by Senandung Malam Express for the period of 85 minutes is 158.75 km, calculate the value of v. [5 marks]
